TECS TECS 303 - STEM Practices In Elementary Education

An introduction to the study of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) within the K-8 environment. The STEM Practices in Elementary Education course will engage participants in developing a meaningful understanding of problem-based approaches to teaching, learning, and the integration of STEM practices across the curriculum using appropriate technology. Participants will demonstrate their skills through the development and creation of a problem-based, applied learning laboratory experiences.  Laboratory knowledge, skills, and units include: Introduction to STEM, Design Process/Problem Solving, Scientific Method, 3D Concept and Rapid Prototyping, Design and Build, Energy, Pressure, Electronics, Simple Machines, Coding/Robotics, and student developed STEM lessons.
